How is the work going on
your new albums?
The work is going very well, even with the delays from being
sick and all. I'm really excited about the new music, I think
everyone will be floored by it! The spanish album is along the
same lines as "De un corazón a otro" in respect
to the ballads and love themes but it will have a more rock
feel to it. There will also be 2 - 3 english cover ballads that
will be quite surprising! Not too surprising though if you've
been to the website and seen my musical influences and tastes.
I just can't wait until everyone hears the album!!
Your songs are so
diverse in style that fans of Ricky Martin, Chayanne, Alejandro
Sanz, Enrique Iglesias and Cristian Castro should be able
to relate to your songs immediately.
I am a fan of all those artists so I take that as a huge compliment.
My songs have elements of all these artists since they are
also influences. I take these influences and blend it with
my personal songwriting style to get the song where I want
it to be so yes, I may have a song like Ricky that is pure
pop and then the next song can be a deep romantic ballad ala
Alejandro Sanz and so on. When I write songs, I let the emotion
behind the song dictate in which direction the song will go
and grow. I don't limit myself or my songs by saying I can't
do a song a certain way just because I'm a latin singer or
a rock singer. Those who have followed my music in my rock
group Vogue's Rogues know this very well about my songwriting.
You've fused some
great elements in your songs that should get you lots of recognition
as a songwriter.
Thanks!! I am fusing some musical styles like flamenco, latin,
pop and rock that is very unusual for what you hear from your
typical music artist. My record company allows me the musical
freedom to do what I am doing and trying to achieve.
