WCR News:
Hello Mario, congratulations on your new album "El Camino
Espiritual" and on your first single "Que Sera"
. Why was that song picked as your first single?
Thank
you! I picked "Que sera" as the first single for a
couple of reasons. I had written this song for Darlene, an artist
I managed and it was on her album. She did a great job with
it. It was supposed to be released as her second single but
unfortunately she received a mutual release from the record
label before that happened. I really believe in this song and
really feel that it is a beautiful song that deserves to be
heard as the emotions of the song are emotions we've all gone
through in some form or another so I decided to include it on
my album and put my own vocal twist on it. I also added a little
extra guitar to it to make it more in my style. Because it was
supposed to be released and because it had been so long since
my last release I felt that it would be a good introduction
to new fans to my music and something my old fans would really
like as well.
WCR News: Congratulations
also on filming your first music video! How was the experience
of filming your first music video?
Thanks, actually this isn't my first music
video as I did film a music video for "No es pecado"
which was the first single of my "Rockero Soy album. I
actually did two different versions for it at the time but the
perfectionist in me wasn't happy with either one and so I decided
not to put either one out. So yeah... this is the first one
in terms of putting it out there. I've come a long way in putting
a more let it go approach to my things. I certainly put that
to the test with this video! Lol. I directed and edited this
video and am happy and satisfied with how it came out, especially
considering my connection to this song. There was a lot of cool
symbolism applied to this video that I feel was captured how
I wanted it to. I hope people get it all from watching the video.
This is a very sad song about a profound loss. A loss so deep
that it takes you over and leaves you without breath. It's a
very deep emotional song and I felt that the video had to represent
this. I went through so many different concepts for the video.
It was hard to narrow it down to what I wanted the video to
show and represent. In the end, I decided on keeping it simple
and trying to focus on the emotion and pain of the song with
just a simple story as a backdrop.
WCR News: What is
the meaning behind the video?
I want you all to come up with your own ideas
of what the song and video's story represents to you but to
tell you a little - the flowers represent the beauty of what
once was and then you see the visual representation of the heartbreak
and loss on the flowers. My yellow room scenes represent the
character in the song naked and baring his heart & soul
in the lyrics. The dark room scenes represent the darkness and
despair of the emotions being sung about. I will leave the rest
of the story for you to decide what you make of it. I'd love
