WCR News: Hello Mario, congratulations on your new album "El Camino Espiritual". It's been a long time between albums, would you like to share why the long delay between albums?

Hi, thank you. I appreciate the congratulations! Sure, I don't mind discussing why the long delay between albums. I've been pretty transparent with my fans about the many delays that have come in between me and what I love but there's a lot more. My last album was 8 years ago!! 8 very long years and I hate that I've lost so much time! I have so much time to make up not only for me but for my fans. At the time I recorded my last album I fully intended to go out & do performances to support the album and at that time I also got into managing other artists for my company World Conquest Records. Unfortunately, that took up a lot of my time and I wound up investing my time into promoting and helping them while my material fell to the side a bit. I was still on track to do things and do things with my music as well but then I had some marital problems which needed my attention. At the same time, it affected things with my artists so it was a pretty rough time. Obviously I couldn't do much with my music at that time without it affecting other things. Thankfully all those things were resolved. Some to my satisfaction, some not unfortunately. So, by this time too much time had passed to properly promote the last album. It was time to begin working on a new album. Then my mother's health began to fail her. I turned my attention from making new music to my mother's health and fight to recover. As many of my fans know, this was a real tough time for me. My fans were awesome and gave me lots of encouragement and prayers. My mother was in a rehabilitation home for months as she slowly worked on her strength. I helped with her bills and looking after my family and their needs. She finally made it home and I was proud to have helped her in whatever way I could to get back home. A week later though she wound up back in the hospital. She was going to be released back home 3 days later and just moments before the release papers were signed she went into cardiac arrest. I'll never forget that call from the hospital nor the call a week later that she had passed away. It all hit me like a ton of bricks. The loss of my mom. Her battle. Her triumph on making it back home. What could've been done? What went wrong? All of it just hit me. The pent-up stress and anxiety finally caught up to me. I never suffered from stress or anxiety so I didn't recognize the signs that had been showing themselves to me. It really affected my health and mental state and it took me a year to recover and really begin feeling like myself again. Once I felt back to "normal" then I got to songwriting to use the experiences, my thoughts on the highs & lows & disappointments as fuel and inspiration for my new album. That brings us to now!

WCR News: Wow, the album title "El Camino Espiritual" seems very appropriate after all that. Is this your most personal album yet?

Yes and no. The no is that to a large extent, all my albums are very personal because I write what I feel and about my experiences. There are things that I need to express and I do it through my music. However, the yes is that because of all the experiences I've gone through in recent years since the last album, this is my most intimate album. There are topics on my album that I didn't think I would be singing or writing about but I needed to get it out and share with my fans. My hope is that my songs can help someone in their spiritual walk through life's hard times.

WCR News: What is your favorite song on the album?

Oh no, you're asking me to play favorites with my babies! Lol! Every song has a special meaning to me for various reasons and represents different thoughts and emotions so it's hard to pick ONE song but if I must... I would say "Esperanzas de un nuevo dia". It's the song that I dedicated to my fans when I gave them the name my "dreamers". This song is talking about my wishes for a better day and how it's something this world needs more of. Those that know me from my Vogue's Rogues music know that I had a lot of songs about society and environmental issues and this song is along these lines. The music is very upbeat but the lyrics are very deep and represent a lot of things but most of all it represents hope so I'm very proud of this song. It's a song that represents what I stand for and believe in very much as an artist and human being.

WCR News: Your albums have been very diverse. Your 1st album "De un corazón a otro" featured música romántica along with salsa and pop songs, your 2nd album "Rockero soy" was more rock and featured flamenco and even some electronica. What can we expect on "El Camino Espiritual"?

Well, as you can tell from my first single "Que sera" I do have the música romántica / pop that I will always do. I also have more rock in this album including some heavier rock and a very bluesy rock song that I think will surprise a lot of people!

WCR News: Thank you for your time. Is there anything else you would like your fans to know?

You're quite welcome! I just want my dreamers to know that I plan to promote this album as much as I possibly can. I've lost too much time and I have a lot of making up to do!! I want to thank my fans for being so patient but also for being so understanding and motivating! My dreamers words of support have helped me through some really rough times. More than they'll ever know. I can't wait for everyone to hear my new album and I especially can't wait to get out there and meet them all!!!
