Happy Birthday! How is the
work going on your new album?
Thank you! The work is going very well. I'm really excited about
the new music, I think everyone will be floored by it! The spanish
album is along the same lines as "De un corazón
a otro" in respect to the ballads and love themes but it
will have more of a rock sound. There will also be 2 - 3 english
cover ballads that will be surprising! I just can't wait until
everyone hears both albums!!
The album was supposed to be out in
late 2001 but will now be out in 2002 instead, what caused the
delay?
As you know, I'm once again playing all the music on the albums
and recording most if not all the albums in my home studio,
I had some problems with getting the studio equipment that I
wanted which caused the initial setbacks. The rest of the setback
can be attributed to my trying to pace myself a bit, my perfectionism
and the events of September 11th. The attacks of the 11th put
me into a self evaluation mode of "does what I do really
matter in the end". Being a born and bred New Yorker, the
attacks really depressed me for quite a while and took all my
creative energy away. I've always tried to make positive music,
music that can inspire but what do you when everything around
you is so negative and depressing? I won't lie, it was quite
an internal struggle. Slowly though, the realization that this
is what I do and who I am came back to focus and ever so slowly,
I was able to re-focus on my music. I believe what the world
needs now is more positivity and I intend to help with that
in the way I know I can.
Glad to know that you are back to your
positive and creative self. Anything you want to say as 2001
closes?
I want to apologize for all the delays to my album in 2001 and
I hope everyone can understand where I am coming from. I also
must thank everyone - my family, friends and fans - for all
their support and inspiration, together we will make 2002 a
year to remember!
